The Variety Children’s Christmas Party was held recently for more than 75 deserving Jersey children, parents and their carers.
Santa (Quantum’s General Manager Paul Pinel) visited and gave all the children presents and gift vouchers thanks to local toy shop Bambola.
Paul said: “I must say a big thank you to the Hotel de Normandie for providing the room and the delicious party food, Hoops and Glitter for the fantastic entertainment and Graham Lumb (Lummy) for some great tunes. Thank you also to the wonderful Ladies of Variety for organising such a fabulous party, all the children had such great fun!”
Variety, the Children’s Charity of Jersey aims to ensure that all disadvantaged and special needs children have the same opportunities in life. Almost on a daily basis, Variety receives requests from schools, health visitors, social workers, occupational therapists and other organisations who have direct dealings with families. These requests are for help with food, shoes, clothing, baby equipment and other basic needs. Variety also receives requests to provide specialist equipment for disabled children such as wheelchairs, walkers, electronic beds and supportive buggies.
All of these requests are for children from low income families and most often single parent families. Variety pay towards educational school trips, mostly to France for children whose parents cannot afford it, ensuring no child in the class is left behind.
Variety are also very fortunate to have an extremely active Ladies section that contribute in many ways to the fund raising activities and are always available to lend a helping hand.
